My first Friday night at Duxbury Beach this year.  Luckily, my parents have the opportunity to drive their truck right out on the beach and we can stay there until 11:00pm.  Hopefully our next beach adventure will include a clam bake in the sand!

Recently, we ventured to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic for a friends wedding.  We stayed at the Majestic Elegance.  After a year and a half of working pretty much straight out, it was great to get away and take a break!  Here’s a look back on our trip!

This was my 3rd trip to the Dominican Republic.  I really enjoyed it!  Our resort was an all-inclusive which was very nice!  I loved the mojitos during the week, very refreshing.
Where have you gone on vacation recently?

Over the weekend, Habitat for Humanity Metrowest had its annual fundraiser event, Spring Fling.  Last year they raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to help local families.  The event had an incredible sale of new and gently used items for your home, including sinks, windows, and furniture.  Other outside vendors also joined in and live music was happening all day.  Take a look for yourself.

I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, tiny cars, almost humorous to see driving around, but here they were! Creative designs, with character, and I want one!  Right in Hudson, MA.  Below are a few photos from the event.  Mostly European Cars, and each one has a story to tell!

IMG_20130507_191903

Too funny!  It looks like it could come alive and start talking!  IMG_20130507_191953

Rich, delectable, sweet chocolate.  You can’t go wrong with a tour of chocolate stores!  For a friend’s bachelorette party, that’s just what we did!

We began at Hotel Chocolate
IMG_20130511_141538We sat in the tasting room, trying out different types and learning how to properly “taste” dark chocolate!  I didn’t know there was a method!IMG_20130511_142348They had Chocolate Pasta!IMG_20130511_142625And I almost bought these!  yum!IMG_20130511_142710How rich?!IMG_20130511_145303Next stop was Teusher Chocolatier.  Swiss Chocolates IMG_20130511_144726Beautiful Boxes, all decorated with flowers.IMG_20130511_145836We swung by Sweet for a double chocolate cupcake, amazing! IMG_20130511_152754Next stop was Robins.  They had the world’s largest Marshmallow, Gummy Bear, Whoopie Pie and all kinds of sweets!  Here, I sampled a chocolate covered cricket, not bad!IMG_20130511_151709That would be the World’s Largest Marshmallow, for those bonfire nights on the beach!

I walked away satisfied with all the goodies I tried!  (even the chocolate covered cricket!)  There were a few other stops along the way, but I don’t want my post to ruin all the fun.
I would absolutely do it again and I think the next tour I would try would be their new cupcake tour!
Check out Boston Chocolate Tours here, you’ll learn a lot and try a lot!  Cheers to chocolate!

I was so happy that one of my first “Wedding Events” being newly engaged happened to be at one of my favorite places, Crompton Collective in Worcester.  If you haven’t been there yet, you need to go!

There are so many cute things around the store, whether you like crafts, antiques, re-purposed items or vintage clothing, this store has all things cute!  I was thrilled when I saw that they were having this event!  Here are some photos from the event:

That’s right, The Superbanite is getting ready to go from a Miss to a Mrs.  A few weeks later, I’m still in shock!  Here’s the story so many people have been asking for:

My amazing boyfriend…errr…fiance took to me to Top of the Hub in the Prudential Center in Boston.  Thinking that this would just be another one of our nice dinners out, I had no idea what I was in for.  We enjoyed a nice dinner with a view of the city just as the sun was setting.

viewA view from our table

After we had dinner, he told me he was cold and reached for his jacket.  He didn’t look as though he was feeling well, so I asked him if he was ok.  I thought it was weird, since he’s never cold and I felt quite warm when I’m normal freezing. I reached for my martini and took a sip as I looked out to the city lights coming on.
When I looked back at him, he told me he had a question he’s been meaning to ask, and placed a little red box on the table.  He said “I don’t want you to be my girlfriend any more, I want you to be my wife.”  I feel like I may have yelled it, but I said yes and started to cry.  I was so shocked.

MeA look at the aftermath, I’m so happy, but teary!

Our waiter, who was excellent, came over a few minutes after with complimentary champagne and our desert which I could barely eat because I was so excited.

congratsCongratulations in chocolate!

Now that this has happened, I have a lot of planning ahead.  However, I’d like to take time to enjoy the glow of being engaged.  No, we don’t have a date yet and we really haven’t done any planning, but we’ll get there.  For now, I am so thrilled to have met a person I am so deeply in love with, some one I share my adventures in life with.

I assure you, my blog will not be overridden with posts about wedding planning.  I’ll keep that separate, but if you’d like updates, please check them out!  I’ll be sure to post links for you.  Lots of DIY and fun ideas to come!

handFinally, this photo does not do the ring justice, but here it is!

Thank you all for the well wishes.  I can’t wait to marry my best friend!  Cheers!

I was able to attend Stylefixx for the second time.  This event allows you to check out some local vendors in fashion, beauty, and hair, while you enjoy wine, beer, snacks and try out some services.  Plus, you get a pretty neat Swag Bag with all kinds of great freebies, like beauty products, snacks, and coupons!  Here’s some photos from the event:

A fun night had by all, looking forward to the event again in the fall!*K

Many of you know that I have a love affair with food.  Cooking is therapy to me and tryingnew foods is an exhilarating experience.  However, most of the time, I follow a Paleo type diet.  Also known as the Caveman or Hunter Gatherer diet.  It’s not a diet at all, it’s more of a lifestyle.  Low carbs, high protein, natural, unprocessed foods and eating when you need energy.

However, for approximately 2 months, I was on the Keto Diet.  More out of support (because if you diet with another person you will be more successful) but it was a great way for me to get rid of a little bit of winter weight and rev up for summer.

The Keto Diet was really to help people who had a seizure disorder.  As a side effect, many people lost weight and quickly.  I won’t get into it scientifically, you can look that up yourself.

Here’s a few photos of the food I ate while on Keto.  By the way, I lost 10 pounds.  Just enough!

Keto Pizza

This is Keto Pizza.  Nope, not a dough crust.  Eggs and mozzarella cheese!  It came out pretty good, but extremely filling!  You can also create a crust using cauliflower, which is another Keto Favorite!

Keto Veal Parm

Veal Parmesan, Keto Style.  The cutlets are breaded in almond flour and egg, then tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese.  Oysters I eat these anyways, oysters.  Yum!  What’s that you see? Wine?  Yes, I can have a few drinks on this diet, which works out great!  Though, since you metabolize things so quickly on this diet, you need to watch out, one or two drinks can do you in and cause a nasty hangover!shrimpShrimp cooked in butter and seasoned with old bay.  Delicious!

So the food isn’t all that bad, just no fruits, which really was a challenge for me!  Some of my other personal faves were eggs cups (see my egg cup post here) bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers, and of course my bullet proof coffee, which I’m still enjoying.  I got my bulletproof coffee recipe from the Bulletproof Executive, which you can get here.  I have it every morning now, and it keeps me full, while also keeping my mind sharp!

If you want to see any recipes written out, let me know!  For now, it’s back to eating normal (paleo 80% of the time) and I’m less than a week away from my vacation!
